Story Planning Session
A calm one-to-one conversation for reporters shaping a piece before the work begins. We look at what question the story is really asking, which records or interviews would answer it, and what the piece would look like if the answer turns out to be undramatic.
Useful for writers who want to avoid spending weeks on a line of enquiry that cannot be supported. Runs 75 minutes online or at the Mombasa office, with a written plan sent afterwards listing the steps in a workable order.

Service 02
Interview Preparation and Debrief
Support for reporters approaching a difficult conversation. The preparation half covers question sequencing, how to keep a subject comfortable while still asking the substantive things, note-taking that stands up later, and consent for recording.
The debrief half, held after the interview, helps you sort what you actually have from what you assumed. Suitable for anyone conducting sensitive interviews for the first time.

Small Outlet Editorial Handbook
A written handbook prepared for your specific outlet, setting out how you will handle sourcing, corrections, right of reply, conflicts of interest and reader complaints. Built through conversation rather than from a template.
Intended for independent publishers and small collectives who want their standards written down before questions arise. Prepared over three weeks with two review calls, delivered as an editable document you own outright.
